Weekend trip south!

Jack in the box!  Why did they have to put the calorie count on the menu to make us feel bad.  It's not like we were going to leave the restaurant and not order sth from their awesome menu.  + we had all their creepy ads surrounding us while we ate :)

Charlie Brown's Christmas Tree T :)

Red Lobster! My first time trying this place. They should really open one here.

SYTYCD tour..  my favourite reality tv.. Loved it! + they performed my two favourite dances.

Best buffet ever.. make your own omlette station & a huge dessert selection <3 + that last picture for a funny memory.

One of the many pretty purchases we made that weekend.  and I can't stop thinking about the pair of leather high top chucks..

Cellphones may replace credit cards

CBC News - November 26, 2009

A pilot project involving RIM, BMO and MasterCard Canada could result in cellphones one day replacing credit cards.

MasterCard Canada has partnered with BlackBerry-maker Research In Motion and Bank of Montreal to try a contactless payment technology called PayPass that allows a shopper to simply tap their enabled phone against a sensor to make a purchase.

In June, Visa partnered with Royal Bank and Rogers Communications to test a mobile pay system in the Toronto area, using Visa's payWave technology. Rather than tapping a sensor, the Visa method involves waving an enabled cellphone in front of a sensor. The cellphone is enabled after an application is downloaded.

Global trend seen

MasterCard's four-month pilot project will involve 200 employees from MasterCard, RIM and BMO. Their experiences with the technology will be evaluated and refined. Other banks and phone types would be included before the new pay system is launched.

There is a global trend to paying for goods and services with a mobile phone. Pilot projects are underway in numerous countries, including Australia, Turkey and the United Kingdom.
The U.K. market research firm, IMS Research, predicted in a report earlier this month that by the end of 2013, there will be 12.5 million locations accepting contactless payments around the world.

Movie

It's been awhile since I went to the theatre to watch a movie.  Forgot how much better it was than watching it on my computer screen.  haha.  well it's nice to escape into someone else's life and be totally absorb into the story..  and the drive home alone listening to music and just mindlessly drive was refreshing too.  That sounds slightly emo but that was a good break tonight!

Rare Canadian stamp fetches $260,000 U.S.

From CBC News - November 20, 2009

A 12-pence Canadian stamp more than a century old has sold for US$260,000 at a New York auction, the highest price ever paid for a single Canadian stamp.

"It's an amazing accomplishment to get that kind of price for that stamp," said Charles F. Shreve, president of Spink Shreves Galleries, the New York company that conducted the auction Thursday.

The 1851 black 12-pence pre-Confederation stamp bears a image of Queen Victoria and is one of the finest surviving examples from that era and the auction price sets a record, said Shreve.

Kindle comes to Canada without browser

** Why do things always get downgraded when it comes to Canada??? Still kind of want one though.

The Kindle e-book reader is now available to Canadians, Amazon.com announced Tuesday, but without some key features. The e-reader sells on Amazon.com for $259 US, plus import fees, which the website says will be about $31 per Kindle. The e-reader will be able to wirelessly download books, magazines and newspapers over a 3G cellular network called Whispernet on AT&T's global network, Kinley Campbell of Amazon.com said.

The e-reader's web browser and blog subscription service will not work in Canada, according to the description on Amazon.com, but customers will have free access to Wikipedia.

World's Largest Gingerbread Man..

umm.. interesting!

CBC News - November 12, 2009

The world's tallest living man has unveiled the world's largest gingerbread man at an Ikea outlet in Norway's capital, Oslo.

Guinness Book of World Records spokeswoman Justine Bourdariat says 8-foot-1-inch tall Sultan Koesen of Turkey displayed the 1,435-pound (651-kilogram) biscuit. Baked locally in the traditional gingerbread-man shape, it beat the previous gingerbread cookie record of 1,307 pounds set in 2006 in Smithville, Texas.

Ikea spokesman Jan Thommesen says Guinness Book of World Records representative Kelly Gerret awarded the furniture store a world record diploma Thursday as part of the publication's World Records Day.

Koesen was declared the tallest living man by the Guinness Book of World Records in September.

Blogs and coffee

Winter is here..
today was the first day that the streets lights turned on while I was walking home.
and the wind was insane. .  it felt like I was going to get blown over.. I couldn't hear my ipod cuz the wind was so loud, my hair was blowing all over the place and in front of my face, and there were leaves flying everywhere..  I must have looked slightly crazy trying to balance and walk as quickly as possible..

but I made it home and it's nicest thing to be in my warm room, sipping on some hot tea.

how cute is this poster :)  it's so true.. I must read like 50 different blogs and of course I love coffee.
