holidays

today's the first non-busy day from the holiday festivities!
I've been having such a good Christmas break, I don't want it to endddd.

This was my first eggnog w/ rum.  sooo good.
today's been a relaxing day unwinding from all the holiday buzz.
now I'm sipping on some lavender mint tea Amber got me from Victoria :), watching the hockey game and finally cleaning up some things around our place.

we had so many good Christmas dinners this past week.  It was so nice to spend time w/ friends & ppl i love.  Although our family couldn't spend it together this year, all of us had a good one.  so thankful.

Rainbow and other things

Huge rainbow we saw after a rainy day..
it's Uni season!  the place we went to wasn't the best though.
had pink eggs and cocktails at the diamond one night after a drink at six acres.
snowman cone! at the craft fair with amber
had a somewhat hard time looking for restaurants to take J to for his bday but the places turned out to be quite good!
first place we went to that night - Oyster.
so of course we had to have lots of oysters.  One of our favourite things is to eat are raw oysters but this oyster rockefeller was pretty good too.

we passed by Boneta a couple of times and always wanted to try it.
this was so delicious.
when a gnocci is made really good..and not too doughy..
House Made Potato Gnocchi, Brown Butter Sauce, Fried Capers & Sage, Parmesan

the halloween pumpkins that we turned into pumpkin cheesecake

we saw trevor linden at the mall event w/ the girls!
at potluck w/ J's other side of the family and we met this little guy
guess what his name is???
not only does he look like Julius, his name is Caesar!

No wonder he's famous around town..

we were in North Van, so decided to treat ourselves to some chocolate goodies..
this was heavenly.. just the right amount of creamy richness and chocolaty sweetness.
and their coffee was a perfect compliment.

One Hundred Days

went to try out new pop up restaurant One Hundred Days

we went during the BC Hydro Candlelight night.  The place had a pretty neat interior.
 yummy lobster/crab bisque appetizer
such good short ribs on the bone
and the best dessert I've ever had
Baked Alaska
meringue, ice cream, thin chocolate cake bottom

---

then went back again w/ the girls during Taste of Yaletown
Tried a dish that they had that wasn't on the menu..
Quail breasts with Brussels sprout leaves.  I had such a good impression of the restaurant but this wasn't that great.  The sauce was way too salty but we ordered the Baked Alaska again. haha so that's a good end to the meal.  I want to attempt to make this dessert at home!

aww. blurry picture..  makes us look a bit cartoonish.

Thanksgiving dinner

J made dinner for my mom and sister for a belated thanksgiving dinner.
We had roast chicken instead of turkey and it was soooo good.  Apparently free range organic chicken makes a big difference.  And then he made a poached pear dessert with ginger sauce & vanilla bean ice cream.  ahhh soooo good.  <3 i'm very thankful for the people in my life :)

---

and the week before that, we had turkey night for the actual Thanksgiving.
Dawna also made this awesome stuffing
me and jenn made lemon meringue pie for dessert.  this is the mini-version :)

cute bottle but didn't particularly like this wine

visiting Amber's museum opening before turkey dinner. haha
